First Official MTG x Marvel Previews Shown Off At NYCC (Updated With Secret Lair Bonus Cards)

Take a look at five Marvel Secret Lair drops featuring five new legendary creatures

The world finally got to see the first official Magic: The Gathering x Marvel cards today at New York Comic Con.

The Universes Beyond product line, announced in October 2023, promises an extensive multi-year, multi-set agreement showcasing legendary Marvel characters, stories, and themes. Now we can feast our eyes on some previews, starting with a series of Secret Lair drops showcasing iconic characters along with new-art reprints with Marvel flavor. The five drops are part of the Marvel Superdrop.

Secret Lair x Marvel’s Captain America

Captain America leads things off with his Vibranium shield.

Captain America is a Jeskai Legend who is all about throwing equipment to deal damage, benefitting from getting to attach an equipment for free at the beginning of combat. The other cards in his drop include:

  • Sigarda’s Aid
  • Flawless Maneuver
  • In the Trenches
  • Sword of War and Peace

Secret Lair x Marvel’s Black Panther

Black Panther is up next, giving Magic players cards set in Wakanda.

Black Panther is a green and white legend who encourages building a strong team through sharing power by moving +1/+1 counters from lands to creatures. The Black Panther drop also includes:

  • Secure the Wastes
  • Primal Vigor
  • Heroic Intervention
  • Karn’s Bastion
  • Warrior Token

Secret Lair x Marvel’s Wolverine

Up third is Wolverine, the mutant boasting an adamantium-reinforced skeleton.

Wolverine is a green and red legend that is tough to kill and doubles all damage he deals. The other cards in his drop include:

  • Berserk
  • Rite of Passage
  • Rhythm of the Wild
  • The Ozolith

Secret Lair x Marvel’s Iron Man

Of course Tony Stark is making an appearnce. Check out Iron Man’s drop.

Iron Man is a blue and red legend that creates a Treasure Token when he attacks, then lets you do a Birthing Pod-esque effect with noncreature artifacts. The other cards in his drop include:

  • Galvanic Blast
  • Commander’s Plate
  • Sol Ring
  • Inventors’ Fair
  • Treasure Token

Secret Lair x Marvel’s Storm

Lastly, Storm, the weather controlling witch, wraps up the Superdrop.

Storm is a Temur legend who, as you would guess, enables the storm mechanic. After Storm deals combat damage to a player she gives your next instant or sorcery storm. The other cards in her drop include:

  • Lightning Bolt
  • Jeska’s Will
  • Ice Storm
  • Manamorphose

The Superdrop went on sale November 4 on the MTG Secret Lair website and has since sold out. The price for each drop was $39.99 for non-foil and $49.99 for rainbow foil. Orders of $99 or more included free shipping and orders of $199 or more included a promo Arcane Signet.
