With Magic: The Gathering’s 2023 release schedule jam-packed with products, it was only a matter of time before additional details were revealed, albeit this time in a rather unconventional way.
While browsing the latest listings on Cool Stuff Inc. and Ultra PRO, keen-eyed Reddit user, Copernicus1981, managed to uncover key details for next month’s Secret Lair Superdrop, Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth, Phyrexia: All Will Be One and March of the Machine, hidden within the listings and page source code.
According to the Ultra PRO source code, one of the drops featured in the February Secret Lair Superdrop will be Secret Lair: 90’s Binder Experience, featuring the colorful themes of Lisa Frank. You can read the mined product description below:
For Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth, the playmat descriptions found on Cool Stuff Inc. all but confirm that the set’s four commanders will be Frodo, Eowyn, Galadriel, and Sauron.
Listed as A-D, these descriptions line up with previously uncovered information for 100-count sleeves, found on Fantasywelt, a German gaming site. Additional listings found through the site indicate that other playmats and deckboxes for the set will feature the following iconic characters:
- Aragorn
- Gandalf
- Sauron
- Mount Doom
- The Balrog
- Treebeard
- Arwen
- Shelob
- Smeagol
- Tom Bombadil
- A special holofoil Frodo
- Borderless Scene
As for Phyrexia: All Will Be One and March of the Machine, no cards or story spoilers came from the playmat listings, but it is confirmed that the playmat artwork will follow color-based Phyrexian themes and will even have special augmented reality enhanced options.
