As part of an ongoing series of weekly changes, Wizards of the Coast (WotC) has announced the updates and changes coming with final week of Core Set 2021 to Magic Online.
Zendikar Rising
Zendikar Rising events will begin on Magic Online starting September 17.
Modern Cube
The fan-favorite Modern Cube begins September 16 and has been updated with cards from recent sets.

Limited Split Championship
The Limited Split Championship begins Saturday, September 19 at 10 AM ET (7 AM PT) with the winner earning qualification for the Zendikar Rising Split Championship on MTG Arena.
Entry: 40 MOCS Qualifier Points.
Pauper Split Championship
The Pauper Split Championship begins Sunday, September 20 at 10 AM ET (7 AM PT) with the winner earning qualification for the Zendikar Rising Split Championship on MTG Arena.
Format Challenges
Format Challenges are scheduled to run every weekend for the foreseeable future and are the “first step to qualifying for Premier Play.” The schedule for upcoming Format Challenges can be found below:

Build Notes
- Zendikar Rising has been added to the client. Events will begin on Thursday.
- Simic Manipulator’s activated ability will now properly take control of a creature if enough counters were removed to pay the cost of activating the ability.
- The appearance of card context menus has been updated.
- Crown-Hunter Hireling is now tradeable and playable in all appropriate formats.
- Muting Magic Online in the Windows Volume mixer will now properly prevent sound from being played.
