To celebrate the upcoming Theros Beyond Death Prerelease happening January 17-18, Wizards of the Coast (WotC) has announced an exciting community contest for aspiring filmmakers.
The Theros International Film Festival encourages MTG fans to create short videos following the prompt of “escape your fate”, a theme inspired by Elspeth’s escape from the Theros underworld.
According to WotC, the “first, second, third, and fourth place winners will [all] receive the custom Ashiok statues” pictured above, designed by Magic: The Gathering Community Artist Miss Monster Mel.
Additionally, the Top 4 will receive “…a full foil set of Theros Beyond Death, a sealed booster box of Theros Beyond Death, ten Theros Beyond Death Collector Boosters and ten codes that can be redeemed for Theros Beyond Death booster packs on MTG Arena.”
Those who place outside the Top 4 but within the Top 10 will receive “…one full foil set of Theros Beyond Death, a sealed booster box of Theros Beyond Death, five Theros Beyond Death Collector Boosters and five codes that can be redeemed for Theros Beyond Death booster packs on MTG Arena.”
The window for submissions began late Monday afternoon, and will run through Thursday, January 23.
