Mark Rosewater confirmed on the Core Set 2021 Variety Show that Hounds are officially being changed to Dogs, leading us to Rin and Seri, Inseparable as well as Pack Leader. Despite it having “bear” stats as a 2/2 for two mana, don’t confuse this good dog for anything else.
Other Dogs you control get +1+1.
The classic lord ability of pumping up your canine companions headlines Pack Leader, strengthening the pack while its second ability highlights its leadership qualities.
Whenever Pack Leader attacks, prevent all combat damage that would be dealt this turn to Dogs you control.
Now that’s loyalty. Pack Leader allows you to ferociously go into combat over and over again with the pack, never having to fear the repercussions of combat.
Pack Leader looks like a great start to an aggressive Dog archetype, but we’ll have to wait to see if there are enough Dogs in the set to fill out a tribal deck.
