Eli Kassis fell a match short of running the table this week on the ELEAGUE Showdown, but still took the top spot on the leaderboard after an impressive eight-match winning streak. Tiago Fonseca was the last opponent in line Wednesday night, but ended Kassis’ run with a swift 2-0 to take the monarch title.
Kassis entered the night on a three-match winning streak and brought back Yorion Jeskai Lukka to keep battling. In his first five matches, Kassis defeated four different decks by taking down MythicMikaela (Yorion Jeskai Lukka), Carson McNair (Lurrus Boros Cycling), yoman5 (Temur Adventures), Miguel Simoes (Obosh Mono-Red Aggro), and themightylinguine (Yorion Jeskai Lukka).
But it was a relative unknown, Tiago Fonseca, who finally dethroned Kassis, winning a Yorion Jeskai Lukka mirror 2-0 and earning a massive bounty in the process. Fonseca will come back next week, but it’s going to take a lot for anyone to pass Kassis and his eight wins on the season.
