As part of an ongoing series of weekly changes, Wizards of the Coast (WotC) has announced the updates and changes for week 1 of Strixhaven: School of Mages on Magic Online.
Strixhaven Alternative Play Schedule
Special events begin on Wednesday’s at 1 pm ET/10 am PT and runs for a week with the exception of Legacy Cube running for two weeks.
- April 21: Strixhaven Supreme Draft
- April 28: New Spotlight Cube
- May 5: Emma Handy’s Proliferate Cube returns
- May 12: Legacy Cube returns
- May 26: New Spotlight Cube
MTGO Premier Play Updates
- Leaderboard points removed from Format Challenges
- Legacy and Pioneer Format Challenges minimum player count increased to 64, prize pools match Modern Format Challenge
- Feedback has been heard and future limited premier play opportunities are being explored
Time Spiral Remastered Leagues Extended
In order to give players more time to practice for the upcoming Sealed Qualifier, Time Spiral Remastered Leagues have been extended through April 25,
Limited Super Qualifier Scheduled For Saturday
Strixhaven Sealed Super Qualifier will start at 19 am ET/7 am PT on Saturday. Entry fee is 40 MOCS Qualifier Points, 40 Event Tickets, or 400 Play Points. The top two finishers for the Strixhaven Set Championship on MTG Arena.

Patch Notes
- Prismari Command no longer incorrectly requires the opponent to discard two cards
- Legendary sorceries can be cast again as long as caster controls legendary permanent
- Bartered Cow will now create a Food token when discarded
- Several cards that look at the top card of a player’s library will no longer follow that up with incorrectly erasing some cards from the top of that library
- Players can now set yields in a game without affecting any other MTGO games
- Show and Tell now works correctly with Pithing Needle, Clone, Mystic Sanctuary, Harmonic Slivers, and others
Next Downtime
The next downtime is scheduled for June 2 at noon ET/9 am PT until 3 pm ET/noon PT for the launch of Modern Horizons 2.
