Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC) and Luis Scott-Vargas, take a look at the latest two-mana removal spell from Strixhaven: School of Mages — Vanishing Verse!
Short and sweet, pay a white and a black to exile any monocolored permanent at instant-speed. A clean answer to hard to kill threats like Seasoned Hallowblade, numerous Gods from Theros Beyond Death, and many planeswalkers that often require a larger mana investment to deal with. Of course Vanishing Verse is going to run into some problematic cards in the multicolor setting of Strixhaven, but it’s still a powerful tool to access to for black and white decks.
Scott-Vargas also previewed Symmetry Sage, a new flying one-drop in blue.
This Human Wizard will look to slot into aggressive, tempo-oriented decks. Bounce spells, card drawing, and other tricks will fuel an efficient two-power flyer that can also make your other creatures bigger. Symmetry Sage will also make a great target for many cheap Auras, but notably won’t trigger Magecraft off them.
