Early this morning, former Lead Developer for Magic: The Gathering at Wizards of the Coast, Zach Hill, and SCG CON Winter Players’ Cube champion Jonathan Brostoff, announced CubeCon – a new event dedicated to Cube Draft!
Memorial Day weekend, fans of Cube Draft will gather to “…play a ton of unique cubes in a competitive draft setting, meet fellow enthusiasts and artists, and to attend panels and community-focused events.”
Prizes
- For every two match wins in the main event, players will receive $5 USD in store credit.
- Players who 3-0 a cube draft will receive a special medal commemorating their achievement.
- The top 8 players across the main event will compete in a special showcase cube draft, with a total of $1k USD in prizes.
Cube List and Structure
The event will feature competitive drafting sessions with “10 different cubes, and the opportunity to qualify for a high-octane top eight draft finale.” Additionally, among the ten cubes featured is the fan-favorite SCG CON Players’ Cube, designed by Cube aficionado and CubeCon special guest, Justin Parnell.

CubeCon 2020 is scheduled to take place May 23-25 at Misty Mountain Games in Madison, Wisconsin and tickets for the event are going fast.
