Innistrad: Midnight Hunt Provides New Land/Creature DFC In Hostile Hostel

New mythic rare land has plenty of upside.

Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC), check out the latest land/creature double-faced card from Innistrad: Midnight Hunt — Hostile Hostel!

Hostile Hostel is a take on the classic horror trope of a haunted or possessed house that can come to life and move about. As a mythic rare, Hostile Hostel packs quite the punch starting off as a land that can tap for colorless mana. But it also has some sweet abilities.

1, T, Sacrifice a creature: Put a soul counter on Hostile Hostel. Then if there are three or more soul counters on it, remove those counters, transform it, then untap it. Activate only as a sorcery.

A sacrifice outlet that’s difficult to interact with is already a great start even if it can only be activated as a sorcery. It is limited to one activation a turn and taps to do it, but if you can sacrifice three creatures to Hostile Hostel you get paid off with a 3/7 creature.

Whenever Creeping Inn attacks, you may exile a creature card from your graveyard. If you do, each opponent loses X life and you gain X life, where X is the number of creatures exiled with Creeping Inn.

4: Creeping Inn phases out.

Your Hostile Hostel is suddenly a Creeping Inn, a Horror Construct that has a nice attack trigger that drains and gains life that improves the more you attack with it. On top of that, it can phase out for four mana to protect it. Pay no attention to this simple house, there’s nothing to see here!

What do you think of Hostile Hostel? What are the best combos to use with this flavorful new utility land/creature?
