Honnay earned an invite to the Strixhaven Championship and $1,500 by winning the 247-person event only dropping a single match in the Swiss. Honnay entered the elimination rounds as the No. 3 seed and faced three distinct archetypes en route to the title. Honnay took the quarterfinals match 2-0 over Admassu Williams on Dimir Tainted Pact (Lurrus) and beat Andre Santos on Jund Company (Jegantha) 2-1. Chase Masters on Jeskai Control awaited in the finals, but Honnay clinched the finals in the third game.

Tainted Pact decks of Dimir and Grixis variants were the breakout decks of the tournament, accounting for four of the Top 12 decks and each boasted a 56 percent win rate or better. Tainted Pact from the Mystical Archive super-charged the new combo/control hybrid deck almost entirely made of one-ofs to utilize the two-mana sorcery. With tutors, card drawing, and plenty of tools to extend the game, the Tainted Pact decks can reliably find Tainted Pact and Thassa’s Oracle to win the game via two cards.

Selesnya Company shot up to the most played deck in the tournament following back-to-back second-place finishes in Insight Esports Historic Opens. Despite its popularity, Selesnya Company failed to put any player in the Top 12. Gruul Aggro, the next most played deck, managed to put two copies in the elimination rounds.

The metagame breakdown for decks with more than two pilots in the event can be seen below.
