Good Morning Magic Showcases Unique Zacama Commander Deck

On today’s Good Morning Magic, Gavin Verhey handed the reigns over to Magic Play Designer, Zac Elsik, for a look at his unique Zacama, Primal Calamity Commander deck.

What’s unique about Zac’s deck, is despite being Naya colors, it plays like a control deck — featuring non-blue counterspells such as Illumination, Artifact Blast, and Lapse of Certainty — and utilizes Zacama, Primal Calamity as the deck’s finisher.

The deck also makes use of several Regrowth effects to continually buyback the key counterspells. Cards like Naya Charm, Holistic Wisdom, and the effect’s namesake card, Regrowth, help to provide a consistent flow of counterspells, despite Naya not having a ton of countermagic at its disposal.

Naturally, with any green Commander deck featuring a nine-mana commander, the list also includes a bevy of ramp spells to help accelerate the deck’s control plan.
