Good Morning Magic Returns With New Channel, Schedule

Gavin Verhey now has a YouTube channel to host his Good Morning Magic series!

Gavin Verhey announced on Twitter today that Good Morning Magic has returned with its own YouTube channel and will come out three times a week.

The bare-bones video series debuted during social distancing on April 13, using quick interviews to go in-depth on Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths. Verhey made an episode each day that week but had only released one other Good Morning Magic since on April 23, leaving the series’ life in question.

Verhey said the series not only is getting its own YouTube channel, Good Morning Magic, but will release new episodes every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Today, the member of Ikoria’s design team and Commander 2020 architect covers some Ikoria quick design hits.

Verhey touches on how Extinction Event moved from Commander 2019 to Ikoria, the mirroring of Drannith Stinger and Drannith Healer, the inclusion of colorless creatures instead of artifact creatures, and how the crystal cycle of mana rocks were originally an idea back in Shards of Alara that evolved from the obelisks, to the banners in Khans of Tarkir, into what Ikoria finally got.

Verhey wraps up the video going over Commander 2020 and the start of how the design team looked to move more power into white cards for the 100-card format.
