Boros Gets Unique Human Warrior In Winota, Joiner of Forces

Check out Winota, Boros’ new Legendary!

Courtesy Wizards of the Coast (WotC) and Magic: the Gathering Arena, check out the latest legendary Human Warrior from Ikoia: Lair of Behemoths – Winota, Joiner of Forces!

Winota has a lot of text and it’s quite important as the rest of the card doesn’t deliver much other than a 4/4 for four mana and it providing another Human general for Commander players.

Whenever a non-Human creature you control attacks, look at the top six cards of your library. You may put a Human creature card from among them onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. It gains indestructible until end of turn. Put the rest of the cards on the bottom of your library in a random order.

To take advantage of Winota you need a deck with non-Humans to be able to attack once she hits the battlefield and Humans so that you can convert on the ability, an incredibly tough balance to strike. That translates to needing roughly eighteen other Humans in your deck to get paid off mathematically, which doesn’t leave a lot of room in the deck once you include lands and the non-Humans to trigger the ability.

Commander players have already pinpointed a card like Najeela, the Blade-Blossom as a perfect card to pair with Winota, as she is a Human that makes non-Human tokens. Will Winota be able to shine in a format that doesn’t revolve around 100-card decks? Only time will tell.
