Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC) and Alayna Danner, check out one of the most precious lands ever printed — Animal Sanctuary!
T: Add a colorless mana.
While this is pretty self-explanatory (just a land doing land things), and it’s really the next ability that is most exciting, it’s worth noting that this card can be used to cast spells that require a colorless mana symbol, such as Thoughtknot Seer or Reality Smasher.
2, T: Put a +1/+1 counter on target Bird, Cat, Dog, Goat, Ox, or Snake.
Often times the activated abilities of colorless lands, such as Arch of Orazca, end up being too expensive to warrant playing multiple copies, but Animal Sanctuary’s ability only costs a total of three mana (including tapping itself), making multiple copies a great mana sink in the late-game.
In the right deck, having Animal Sanctuary at the ready guarantees your battlefield will grow, even on turns where your hand is empty. And with all the new Cats and Dogs previewed in Core Set 2021 so far, Animal Sanctuary could end up being a solid pick in Limited as well.
