The Murders at Karlov Manor debut video and the following Weekly MTG stream unveiled the conclusion to the story, previewed cards, revealed the mechanics from the set, and much more.

Dive into the new cards, booster fun treatments, mechanics, Special Guests, Commander face cards, and promo cards from Murders at Karlov Manor.

Surveil Dual Lands

While Murders at Karlov Manor isn’t technically a guild-themed set, there will be 10 new rare dual lands. These duals boast both land types, so they are fetchable, and surveil when they enter the battlefield. They also come in borderless, alternate art variants.

Case Cards

Case cards show off a new mechanic. Case is a new type of enchantment that looks like sagas and class cards, but function in their own way. The top section of case cards is always active, but the middle section features a requirement needed to solve the case. If you can solve the case, the middle section won’t trigger again, and the last ability becomes active.  If that ability is an activated ability, it can now be activated. If it’s a triggered ability, it can now trigger. If it’s a static ability, that ability now functions. Once a case is solved it stays solved until it leaves the battlefield.

Collect Evidence

Collect evidence is a new cost that functions as a keyword action. It always appears with a number, noting the mana value of combined cards required to be exiled from the graveyard in order to pay it. Players can go over the number if needed, but can also exile only one card if they happen to have a single card with the needed mana value.

Disguise And Cloak

Disguise functions exactly like morph with the exception that the facedown 2/2 colorless creature also has ward 2. Cloak is a twist on the manifest mechanic, but the card can be cloaked from different areas other than just the top of your library like manifest. The cloaked card will also have ward 2 and be a 2/2 colorless creature and can be flipped up only if it is a creature card by paying its mana cost.

Suspect

Suspect is another new mechanic that designates creatures as suspects. Once a creature is a suspect it has menace and can no longer block. Some cards can remove the suspect designator, returning the creature to its normal form that no longer has menace and can block.

Investigate

Investigate returns and many cards have extra ways to take advantage of having Clue tokens on the battlefield.
