The first of the six Infinity Stones to come to Magic: The Gathering was previewed in a behind the scenes video promoting Magic: The Gathering | Marvel’s Spider-Man.
Feast your eyes on The Soul Stone!

This legendary artifact is an indestructible black mana rock, boasting the new Infinity Stone subtype. On top of producing black mana, you can pay six and a black, tap it, and exile a creature you control to harness The Soul Stone. Once harnessed, the infinity ability becomes active, allowing you to reanimate a creature from your graveyard at the beginning of your upkeep.
The harness ability calls back to Thanos sacrificing Gamora to show Red Skull he can sacrifice what he loves. It also can be activated at instant-speed, so this card can lead to some shenanigans.
The Soul Stone appears to have three versions in Magic: The Gathering | Marvel’s Spider-Man. The default version features art by Volkan Baga that is similar to his illustrations of the moxen for sets on Magic: The Gathering Online. The extended-art versions shows Thanos with the stone in his gauntlet, illustrated by Leinil Francis Yu and Sunny Gho. Lastly, a textless version shows the stone off in space with art by Madeline Boni.
Max Mccall, executive producer of the set, notes that all six stones will come to Magic: The Gathering over time and says that they will pay off everyone’s expectation of being able to collect all the stones and do something cool with them. With multiple Marvel sets still to come over the years, how long will we have to wait to get all the stones and make them do something crazy in Standard?
Magic: The Gathering | Marvel’s Spider-Man is scheduled to release on September 26.
