The Wizards Play Network site provided more information on the Spider-Man: The Final Battle event that concludes the Magic: The Gathering | Marvel’s Spider-Man season at local game stores, including a prize that comic fans will certainly want to collect.
Spider-Man: The Final Battle is a competitive Standard event that WPN stores can hold once between November 1-9. The event can offer additional prizes, but the winning prize that WPN stores will guarantee is an alternate cover art comic book variant of The Amazing Spider-Man #1.
Each WPN store will receive one variant comic and can only host one Spider-Man: The Final Battle, which makes this a fairly high-stakes tournament for competitive Standard players and anyone looking to nab a copy of the alternate cover art of the first edition of The Amazing Spider-Man. The alternate cover art has not been revealed as of yet.
Additional WPN events for Magic: The Gathering | Marvel’s Spider-Man include Magic Presents: A Villainous Halloween and Magic Presents: Friendly Neighborhood Draft.
Magic Presents: A Villainous Halloween is a take on Commander scheduled between October 31 to November 2, where players bring their own Commander deck then secretly choose a villain card from a pack of villains, each representing a classic villain from Magic’s history with its own alternate win condition. If a player meets the win condition, the remaining players have one turn to try to stop the villain or lose at the end of that turn. Players will get to take home a villain pack at the end of the event to spread the fun game mode with their friends.
