The second charm in the cycle of three-color spells from Streets of New Capenna was previewed in today’s story article from Daily MTG.
Check out Obscura Charm, the white, blue, and black charm, in its normal frame and alternate art showcase frame.
Choose one —
Return target multicolored permanent card with mana value 3 or less from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped.
Counter target instant or sorcery spell.
Destroy target creature or planeswalker with mana value 3 or less.
For three mana, you can reanimate a multicolored permanent with mana value 3 or less from your graveyard, counter an instant or sorcery, or destroy a creature or planeswalker with mana value 3 or less. Obscura Charm is the quite different than Esper Charm from Shards of Alara and its more generic modes of draw two cards, make a player discard two cards, or destroy an enchantment.
Obscura Charm will work great in Esper Control decks by slotting in as a Negate and a removal spell if your opponent doesn’t play anything worth countering. The reanimation mode gives it potential for combo or value decks that also benefit from having the other two modes.
How does Obscura Charm stack up against other charms in MTG history? What do you think the other three from Streets of New Capenna will do?
Streets of New Capenna is scheduled to release on April 29, 2022. View our official preview gallery.
