Wizards of the Coast (WotC) has revealed a new, upcoming Secret Lair drop that will feature the artwork of Frank “The Godfather of Fantasy Art” Frazetta.
Over the course of 82 years, Frazetta earned numerous awards for his fantastical illustrations which spanned media including novels, comic books, album covers, posters for Hollywood movies, and more. Additional accolades include:
- The Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame (1995)
- The Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame (1998)
- The Jack Kirby Hall of Fame (1999)
- Life Achievement Award from the World Fantasy Convention (2001)
- The Science Fiction Hall of Fame (2014)
- The Album Cover Hall of Fame (2016)
The Art of Frank Frazetta drop will contain five reprinted cards — Dark Ritual, Midnight Reaper, Field Marshall, Seize the Day, and Temporal Manipulation each featuring an illustration from Frazetta’s extensive portfolio. You can view each card below.
According to a since deleted tweet, preorders for the drop are currently scheduled to go live on Monday, December 5. No pricing information is available at this time.
