Following preview season tradition, Magic: The Gathering Head Designer, Mark Rosewater, has shared a teaser for Secrets of Strixhaven to his Blogatog.
While each bullet provides a partial hint for things to come within the set, a few of the more interesting details include “A new Pox spell,” “a 6/6 with a mana value of 1,” and “a cycle referencing iconic spells from Alpha.”
Some tidbits of rules text that appears on cards includes: “flip five coins,” “when this land enters, choose a land card name,” and “round down each time.”
Additionally, Rosewater shared several of the creature types being included in the set, some of which include: Creature – Giraffe, Creature – Plant Sloth, and Legendary Creature – Bird Skeleton Warlock
The teaser ends with some fun card names coming in Secrets of Strixhaven. As a writer, I’m partial to “Procrastinate” and “Flow State.”
With official previews and these hints, we know of the return of converge mechanic, more mascot tokens and actual creature cards, a bunch of wacky math-related spells, and plenty of graveyard-related shenanigans.
