Following preview season tradition, Magic: The Gathering Head Designer, Mark Rosewater, has shared a teaser for Murders at Karlov Manor to his Blogatog.

While each bullet provides a partial hint for things to come within the set, a few of the most interesting details include a new enchantment subtype called Case, the return of a popular mechanic tweaked with a new name, a keyword mechanic not printed in a premier set since 2008 returns on only one card, and a green sorcery that you can have any number of copies of in your deck.

Some tidbits of rules text that appears on cards includes: “As long as there are no cards in your library”, “Whenever you sacrifice a Clue, target opponent gets two poison counters.”, and “Then sacrifice it if it has five or more bloodstain counters on it.”.

Additionally, Rosewater shared several of the creature types being included in the set: Legendary Creature – Mole God, Creature – Elf Crocodile Detective, Artifact Creature – Clue Fish, and Creature – Weird Detective.

So what do you think of Rosewater’s teaser? Are there any specific hints that stick out to you? Let us know your theories!

Previews for Murders at Karlov Manor start January 16 while the story for the set runs from today through January 15.
