MTG Arena’s October State Of The Game Talks Explorer Expansion, Alchemy, Balance Changes, And More

MTG Arena has released their monthly State of the Game detailing what’s next for Explorer, Alchemy, Historic, and more.

Historic Rebalances

The following cards will be reverted to their original tabletop forms following Thursday’s update.

Players will not receive any wildcard reimbursement for these changes.

Streets of New Capenna Limited Rebalances

After reviewing play data from Streets of New Capenna Limited, developers identified multiple issues with the format which they plan to address via a huge wave of rebalances. After rebalancing, they hope to encourage more three-color viability, better game pacing, and overall more relevant draft picks. You can view each rebalanced card here.

Explorer

The next expansion for Explorer is planned for the “end of 2022”. It will be succeeded by Shadows Over Innistrad Remastered in mid-2023.

Alchemy: Dominaria United

Alchemy: Dominaria United will go live on MTG Arena beginning Thursday, October 6. The digital-only expansion will include 30 unique cards, all of which you can view here.

The Ultimate Showdown

October 8-10, players can enjoy the Ultimate Showdown event, featuring four preconstructed decks representing the archetypes found in the Un-sets: Timmy, the monster master; Johnny, the ingenious inventor; Spike, the relentless competitor; or Vorthos, the art and lore aficionado.

Best-of-One Qualifier Play-in

Beginning at 6 AM PT on October 8, players can join the Standard Best-of-One Play-In queue. This event will be available through October 9.
