Leaked Token From Phyrexia: All We Be One Reveals Return Of Poison Counters

New ability offers another way to give players poison counters

A token from Magic’s next set, Phyrexia: All Will Be One, was allegedly found in a pack of Jumpstart 2022 according to a user on Reddit.

A Reddit user by the name of u/TheWizardOfFoz posted two images, the front and back of a token with the set code of ONE, with the front half showing a creature token for Phyrexian Mite and the back being a Poison Counter. The creature has a new ability, Toxic 1, and is a 1/1 Token Artifact Creature that can’t block. Toxic 1’s reminder text reads, “Players dealt combat damage by this creature also get a poison counter.”

This all but confirms the return of poison counters returning to Magic, but hints that Infect and Poisonous, two similar abilities will not. Toxic looks to be gated at one poison counter per instance of combat damage, unless the number scales up on other creatures. This takes away the ability of killing players out of nowhere with a creature with Toxic and pump spells.

These images also make the possible leaks from back in October likely to be real. The image from Reddit two months ago showed two creatures with Toxic 1, along with other cards sporting the same set symbol.

With the Phyrexia: All Will Be One first look stream by Weekly MTG tomorrow, there is a good chance we will know if these are real. Watch the stream at twitch.tv/magic at 1 PM ET for a first look at Magic’s next set.
