Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC) and Final Fantasy, take a look at the first Final Fantasy XV main character to be previewed from Magic: The Gathering – FINAL FANTASY — Gladiolus Amicitia!

Gladiolus Amicitia – better known as “Gladio” to his friends and Final Fantasy community – is the muscle of the party and one of the most recognizable characters from Final Fantasy XV. Following many generations of Amicitia before him, Gladio serves as a shield for the Lucis royal family, and is the best friend and sworn protector of Prince Noctis Lucis, the main protagonist of XV.
As they did with Zell back in March, Final Fantasy celebrated Gladio’s in-universe birthday (April 2) with the reveal of his card from the upcoming Magic: The Gathering –FINAL FANTASY set.
Gladio’s Magic: The Gathering imagining sees him as an uncommon, legendary, six-mana 6/6 that searches your library for any land upon entering play. Gladio also has a landfall ability that grants another target creature you control +2/+2 and trample whenever a land you control enters play.
While he’s no Primeval Titan, Gladio’s ability to search your library for any land and put it into play shouldn’t be underestimated, and even though it enters tapped, it will still trigger his landfall right away. Despite his status as a legendary creature, it’s likely that Gladio comes up short when compared to the other landfall Commanders available in Gruul, but he’ll still fit right in among the other 99 cards in those decks.
Magic: The Gathering – FINAL FANTASY is schedule to release on June 13. View our official preview gallery and preorder your sealed products here.
