As part of an ongoing series of weekly changes, Wizards of the Coast (WotC) has announced the updates and changes for Week 7 of Streets of New Capenna on Magic Online.
Magic Online Celebrates 20 Years
To celebrate 20 great years of Magic Online, the 20th Anniversary Series is coming to the program on June 9. Players that collect a 4-1 or 5-0 finish in both a Limited and Constructed Play-In Event between June 9 – June 24 will qualify for the finals on June 25. The winner of the finals earns four complete sets of nearly every booster set release in the history of Magic Online. Constructed Play-In Events range from Legacy, Vintage, Modern, and Pioneer while the Limited Events include Master 25, Vintage Masters, Modern Horizons, and Modern Horizons 2. Play-In Events award prizes for players finishing with three or more wins.
The finals is set for 7:00 AM PT on June 25 and will feature Modern Horizons 2 Sealed and a Top 8 draft. Second-place through fourth-place also earn one complete set of nearly every booster set release on Magic Online along with 2,000 play points for second and 1,000 play points for third and fourth. Overall prizes go all the way down to 256th place.
Special avatars will also be awarded to players who earn two, four, or six finals entry tokens. Two tokens earns the Heroes Remembered avatar, four tokens earns the Inferno of the Star Mounts avatar, and six tokens earns the Dark Depths avatar.
Other events happening to celebrate Magic Online’s 20th Birthday include keeping the Vintage Cube on the entire month of June, with all accounts created before June 7 receiving 100 play points (enough for a Vintage Cube entry). The All-Access token also makes a return, going on sale June 8. The token costs $25 and gives players access to almost every card on Magic Online. The token will last until downtime on June 29.
More avatars will also be given to accounts depending on when they were created. Check below to see which avatar you will receive based off your account’s creation date.
- Up to one year: Bear Cub
- Up to five years: Young Pyromancer
- Up to ten years: Eager Cadet
