Michael Jaszczur became the fourth Flesh and Blood World Champion, winning with Cindra, Dracai of Retribution in Classic Constructed and Dash I/O in Living Legend this past weekend in Philadelphia.

Jaszczur, who made the Top 8 of Pro Tour London earlier this year, etched his name in the Flesh and Blood history books. He reached the elimination rounds as the No. 6 seed with a record of 12-3 (7-2 in CC and 5-1 in LL) and was joined in the Top 8 by two PCG Invasion teammates, Matt Dilks and Majin Bae.

The Top 8 bracket showcased best-of-three play in Flesh and Blood for the first time with matches being decided in multiple formats. Jaszczur navigated the lower half of the bracket with 2-0 wins over Florin-Christian Loghin and Jakob Allan. He was met in the finals by Dilks, who defeated Jimmy Niro Demers and Ian Zhang, setting up an all-Canadian finals, where four of the Top 8 hailed from The Great White North.

Dilks struck first in CC but Jaszczur answered back in LL, setting up the deciding match in CC. Jaszczur got out to an aggressive start, knocking Dilks down to 23 on the second turn. Dilks fought back in an unfavored matchup, evening the score at 22, leading to a prolonged back-and-forth finale. The last game was balanced on a knife’s edge, with the score tied at 2 life each, but Jaszczur was able to apply maximum pressure with Flick Knives representing an unpreventable damage, forcing Dilks to block with every card he could. A wide final attack took all of Dilks’ resources and Ravenous Rabble was able to deal the final points of damage.

Jaszczur walked away a world champion with $100,000, a trophy, a Gold Foil Legendary Black Envelope, a PTI, and Champion’s Prize Cards. Dilks earned $25,000, a PTI, and a Gold Foil Legendary Black Envelope for his efforts.
