Legend Story Studios (LSS) announced today that Skirmish Season 13 will be the last time Flesh and Blood’s Blitz format will be supported in seasonal organized play.
From November 29 to December 14 players will have one last chance to bring Blitz decks to Skirmish or higher levels of supported competitive play. Local game stores will still have the opportunity to run Blitz Armory Events or on-demand events.
Blitz, the faster and more casual offshoot of Classic Constructed, has been used as an on-ramp to learning Flesh and Blood through preconstructed decks since the game’s creation. The format uses a smaller deck size, with a smaller limit on the number of copies of cards that can be played, and a lower life total to allow more games to be played in a smaller window. Despite the format not scaling particularly well at the highest levels of competition, Blitz has appeared at Callings, Pro Quests, and even at previous World Championships.
LSS said more details about Skirmish Season 13 are still to come. Many fans of Flesh and Blood have predicted the new format Silver Age, which has only been teased a handful of time officially, will be the replacement for Blitz in the game’s organized play system.
