Flesh And Blood Welcomes FAB 3.0 Starting In 2027

Changes coming to products, premier play, and in-store play next year

Legend Story Studios (LSS) announced big changes coming in 2027 for Flesh and Blood with the arrival of FAB 3.0 — dubbing it the next era of Flesh and Blood.

In 2022, two and a half years after the release of the Flesh and Blood TCG, LSS introduced FAB 2.0. Those changes retired first edition prints of sets, introduced History Pack products, expanded casual play with the Ultimate Pit Fight and Commoner formats, updated the Living Legend policy, and rebranded the Banned and Restricted list to the Banned and Suspended list.

Starting in 2027, with the release of Set 22, FAB 3.0 will move the game forward by focusing on product, premier play, and in-store play.

Booster packs are changing to improve the pack opening experience, improve Booster Draft, and enable the designers to create more dynamic cards. By reducing the number of rare cards in a pack from two to one, the game will be able to do more with rares to allow more exciting cards at the rarity and lead to unique draft strategies. This change along with the sunsetting of the Fable rarity — the last Fabled Gem for the foreseeable future was printed in Usurp the Shadow Throne — will allow the game to continue to leverage collectability while competitive players will no longer have to hunt down the rarest cards in the game for high-level play. High rarity collectibles will be refocused on Marvel-like treatments, expanding on unique artwork, new print techniques, and occasional serialization.

Competitive play will continue with the Flesh and Blood World Tour, but the number of events will decrease while the prize pools and happenings at each stop will increase. Prize money for Showdowns will double from $5,000 to $10,000 while even bigger improvements are coming to the largest events. Callings scale from $20,000 to $30,000, Pro Tours move from $200,000 to $240,000 and the World Championship goes from $300,000 to $500,000.

Prize cards starting with the Outbreak season will move away from the gold foil cards and move to premium Marvel promos in most cases. Players will have more chances to acquire promo cards as Callings, Pro Tours, and World Championship events will now also award Day 2 premium promo cards. These premium cards will be cold foil and include the Calling, Pro Tour, or World Championship logo.

LSS is also adjusting the in-store play schedules to more align with the competitive schedule, following a similar cadence for all sets going forward. In-store play will revolve around Limited at the start of each season following the World Premiere for each set, leading to Prereleases and Limited ProQuests. After the Pro Tour, the focus shifts to Classic Constructed play and then Silver Age while more casual Armory Events can be any format throughout the season.

Another big change for ProQuests is that players can continue to play in them even after winning one. If a player wins more than one ProQuest in a season, the invite will not pass down.

Gem promo packs will now arrive mid-season as opposed to the start of the season to allow for a more balanced event and promo schedule to give players more reasons to keep coming back to local game stores. In-store events like ProQuests, Road to Nationals, Skirmish, and Battlegrounds will also move on from gold foil promos to Marvel prize cards.
