If you build decks that walk all over everyone, every week, then your opponents are going to lose interest. Last time I talked about the broken Worldgorger Dragon multiplayer deck – but also mentioned how, once we had won the match, we pulled out fun decks and played some real Emperor. I want to describe those decks.
They gave us an Emperor tourney… And we built a deck that broke the format. OI would recommend that every casual play group ban the deck we came up with immediately; consistent turn 2 kills on an infinite number of opponents are not what makes multiplayer fun.
Out of five boxes of Judgment, he got only one Sylvan Safekeeper and two Cunning Wishes… But he got eight Balthor, the Defiled. Since he now has enough for both himself and his wife to play Balthor decks, I guess Peter will have to break Balthor wide open.
In the new Type 2, the”general wisdom and market drivers” are threshold, flashback and incarnations – in other words, the graveyard. Can Peter develop an effective deck that yanks the graveyard out from under his opponents?
I know that’s not supposed to happen. Saga block had all those broken cards. Saga block spawned all the horrible decks that were no fun to play. Wizards had to ban or restrict most of Saga block. Saga block was a mistake, right?
I think that every single deck -except one – that defines the current metagame is dead. I’ll be a bit different, and list the regular card combos that got lost and decks that are affected. Then I’ll go on to decks that will survive, and new ones that will thrive.
