Meet the new Magic Online: wizards.com/Magic/Magazine…
— Worth Wollpert (@mtgonline) July 12, 2012
Finally, Wizards of the Coast has come out with the Beta for the new user interface of Magic: The Gathering Online (#MTGO). Worth Wollpert (@mtgonline), Ryan Spain (@RyanSpain), and the rest of the Magic Online crew have been hard at work, working hard on working out the kinks and improving upon the current (read: old) user interface.
The MTGO Beta team has been more than open about feedback from the Beta testers, asking in multiple public forums, like Twitter, about not only what people like about the Beta but also what needs to be fixed. Responses have been mixed, citing several examples of good changes as well as many problems that the users would like to see improved upon.
Hopefully, at the end of this test period they will have enough information to release a fully functional and user-friendly program for the masses to use and enjoy in the near future. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, and there are still some bugs to be worked out. But, in general, the Twitter community agrees that this #MTGOBeta is a good first step:
@wrongwaygoback I just got back into MTGO and I loooooove the new interface beta.

New #Mtgo Client in Public beta this week. Looks like they really cleaned it but still no Mac version. Surely they will plan to have it…

@mtgonline beta client shows me all the money I spent on #MTGO.GAH!#CantUnsee #MaybeNotTheBestFeature

I like the #mtgredzone on the new beta client for MTGO. Having my creatures move into there is kind of cool, and not obtrusive for me.

Was excited when #mtgo beta gave me 13x picks in draft. Less excited when submit failed and had to restart client, rebuild deck in 50 sec

Switching off the #mtgo beta client for the second time after losing my draft. As in literally being unable to find it.

#MTGO. In the beta client I got a notification that someone started a chat with me, but its nowhere to be found.

@RyanSpainThe way the cards look now in mtgo beta has me a bit worried. I mean, compare them to v3 or dotp. #mtgobeta

Who can not stand trading on the new MTGO beta client. UG its horrendous.

Does the #MTGO #BETA keep on crashing for anyone else?!
— Chris Francis (@ChrisChaos46) July 21, 2012
Playing Commander on the #mtgo beta–4 battlefields is WAY to crowded under the new UI.I need Tylenol. It gave me a headache.
— Eric Williamson (@_kaburi_) July 22, 2012
On the sneak peek I can’t reopen chat after lethal damage if I closed it beforehand. That’s something I’d like to do for the ggs. #mtgo
— Jules Robins (@JulesRobins) July 22, 2012
Does anyone know if you are not able to play Daily Events yet on the MTGO Beta client? It keeps saying I have no deck selected
— Tangent (@TangentDYN) July 22, 2012
@Lee_Sharpe just logged into the beta client, could immediately figure out how to trade things. Significant improvement! #mtgo
— Liz Cady (@JhoiraArtificer) July 22, 2012
the new beta #mtgo client seems 3x harder to use @_@. no event chat, pairings, game results bar…
— Philip Rama III (@philipPR3rama) July 24, 2012
Has anyone else had an issue where they made a trade on the #mtgo beta client and then the cards not exist on the v3 client?
— Eric Williamson (@_kaburi_) July 25, 2012
Set up the MTGO beta client last night to use my Razer’s mouse keypad. Rebound f2 to by 1 key, and f4 to my 3 key. MTG productivity +100%
— samstod (@samstod) July 24, 2012
Logged back onto the old client today. Sigh. I like the new client so much better. #mtgo
— Matthew Watkins (@oraymw) July 25, 2012
@tommartell @mtgonline I think I would rather get stabbed in the eyeball than use the MTGO beta client in its current state
— Robbie Chan (@senseirob) July 22, 2012
Mixed feelings on the new #MTGO client..it feels weird..I hate to say that i like the old client better but its ancient.needed a update #MTG
