StarCityGames.com Organized Play Update: 2016 Season Two

SCG President Pete Hoefling has some new and exciting news about The SCG Tour® in Season Two!

SCG Tour ®Indianapolis: March 11-13!” border=”1″></a></div>
</p>
<p>Hi friends, </p>
<p>Late last year, I announced a number of changes we’d soon be making to StarCityGames.com’s (SCG) In-Store Programs and Organized Play initiatives – the most significant of which was the introduction of the SCG Tour®. Since those changes have gone into effect, attendance numbers have spiked significantly, we’ve sold out 100% of our available SCG Tour® vendor space, multiple teams have formed for the primary purpose of playing in SCG Tour® events, many Magic: The Gathering artists have contacted us wanting to appear at our events, and we’ve seen positive movement in almost every area the changes were intended to affect. </p>
<p>Today, I’m excited to announce some additional SCG Tour® changes which will debut at April 15th-17th’s Columbus Invitational Weekend.</p>
<h2>All-New Exclusive Playmats</h2>
<p>Currently, all Open participants receive an exclusive playmat while those who enter a Classic do not. Starting in Season Two, all players who enter a SCG Open or Classic will receive an exclusive playmat – featuring one of three pieces of official Magic: The Gathering artwork! </p>
<p>All fans who participate in a Season Two <b>Legacy</b> Open or Classic will receive an exclusive playmat featuring <i>Dark Ascension</i>‘s <a href=Thalia, Guardian of Thraben!

Season Two Legacy Open Playmat

All fans who participate in a Season Two Modern Open or Classic will receive an exclusive playmat featuring Innistrad‘s Ghost Quarter!

Season Two Modern Open Playmat

And all fans who participate in a Season Two Standard Open or Classic will receive an exclusive playmat featuring Shadows over Innistrad‘s Sigarda, Heron’s Grace!

Want to learn more about Sigarda, Heron’s Grace? Check out today’s exclusive Shadow over Innistrad preview article written by Mike Sigrist!

Because all fans participating in a Classic will now receive an exclusive playmat featuring Magic: The Gathering artwork, entry fees for Season Two Classics will be increasing from $30 to $40. However, if the playmat doesn’t interest you, several of our three to five on-site vendors will likely be happy to buy it from you. 🙂

Infinite Challenge Registration Packages

Based on its popularity at SCG-organized Grand Prix, fans will now have the option to register for an Infinite Challenge Registration Package at all SCG Open and Invitational Weekends, beginning at April 15th-17th’s Columbus Invitational Weekend. Each Infinite Challenge Registration Package will include entry into all Challenge events on those days, entry into one of Sunday’s Classics, and all Registration Reward items included with entry into any of those events.

Open Weekends

  • 2-Day Infinite Challenge Registration Package with Classic #1 $80
  • 2-Day Infinite Challenge Registration Package with Classic #2 $80

Invitational Weekends

  • 2-Day (Sat. & Sun.) Infinite Challenge Registration Package with Classic #1 $80
  • 2-Day (Sat. & Sun.) Infinite Challenge Registration Package with Classic #2 $80
  • 3-Day Infinite Challenge Registration Package with Classic #1 $100
  • 3-Day Infinite Challenge Registration Package with Classic #2 $100

Maximum Seating Capacities For Saturday’s Opens

In order to ensure a quality experience for each of our attendees, we have established maximum seating capacities for each of Season Two’s Opens. Please note that these maximum seating capacities do not include players participating in Invitationals or side events, each of which has been allotted their own space. Maximum seating capacities apply only to Opens, but are set in stone and will not be increased.

Please note that we are expecting many, if not all, Season Two Opens to sell out in advance and recommend you guarantee your seat – and exclusive Magic: The Gathering playmat – by registering for any Season Two Opens you plan on entering ASAP!
