Pick 1: Once, when waiting for Round 2 to end and split the finals, the
server crashed and I received no compensation for my loss. In that draft I had
passed a Doran, and I was very upset about it. This time, I rare-drafted the Thoughtseize. I’m glad I did, as you’ll see below…
Pick 2: If I had indeed first picked Nameless Inversion, I would be in trouble
here as there’s no good Black card. Actually there are no good cards at all.
Pretending I first picked an Artifact, now I pick Goldmeadow Harrier, the
best card of the pack. With Nameless Inversion, I would probably pick Elvish
Branchbender, or Goldmeadow Harrier planning to splash Nameless Inversion
or ditch the Harrier later.
Pick 3: Pilferers is the best card, so I have the same thoughts about White/Black. I
can lose the Harrier, or I can splash the Pilferers.
The next few picks gave me solid White and Green creatures, and a pair of
very late Gilt-Leaf Seer seemed to indicate Green was the color to be.
Pick 16: Ajani settled me into Green/White aggro, and set the strategy for
the rest of my draft. Thanks to a pair of Huntmasters, Imperious Perfect, and
Jagged-Scar Archers, my deck got a small elf sub theme.
After submitting my draft deck, the server crashed. As I’m writing this,
it’s still not up. At least I got a Thoughtseize… I’m not falling for the
same trick twice.
