Pick 6: I hesitated between Inner-Flame Acolyte, Leaf Glider, and Hamletback
Goliath. I’m still unsure on this pick. Leaf Glider is the best card, but I
wasn’t sure on picking Green. I picked Acolyte to see if I could get some
Elemental theme going, as I already had Igniter.
Pick 16: Here I’m just try to go Green/Red and splash the Eyeblight’s Ending. The rest of
the pack is very unexciting except for Clouadgoat Ranger, which I can’t play.
Pick 17: Pretty much the same, I picked Kithkin Daggerdare because it’s a card
that can save a potentially disastrous draft, and this one wasn’t looking good.
Any weak creature in play becomes an attacking threat with an active
Daggerdare.
Pick 19: I should’ve picked Lys Alana Huntmaster here.
Picks 20, 21 and 22: Trying to put the Elementals back on track.
Round 1 I played versus an hybrid Kithkin/Merfolk deck. One game he had the
Merfolk draw, but I killed the key ones and then played Incremental Growth.
I won the race by a turn thanks to Caterwauling Boggart. Game 2 he got the
Kithkin draw, but stalled on three land, which gave me enough time to
stabilize at 5 life and then play cautiously, which isn’t that hard against
U/W… you simply keep an eye open for evasion.
Round 2 I played versus U/W Merfolk.
I might have lost game 1 when I played Incremental Growth. I targeted my
two creatures and his Avian Changeling, and I wanted to respond by using
Moonglove Extract on the Changeling, but misclicked and did not got
priority. I conceded, since I had no way to deal with the flier.
Game 2 I won since I drew a reasonable amount of early and cheap removal
to slow him down, and then had Glarewielder for the final 5 or 7 points.
Game 3 I just curved out: turn 2 Adder-Staff Boggart, turn 3
Soulbright Flamekin and Tarfire his creature. I followed that with Lash Out,
Caterwauling Boggart, and Inner-Flame Acolyte, and it was enough. If he had a
sixth land on turn 6, he might had a chance. He played turn 4 Merfolk
Harbinger for Surgespanner, turn 5 Drowner, and turn 6 Surgespanner, but
had no extra mana to pay the cost to bounce a permanent.
I split the finals.
