So I seemed to get into the wrong colors right off the bat in this draft, but even with hindsight on my side, I can’t see where I went wrong. If I had taken Cockatrice first I think this draft would have worked out, since I’d have got much better Green in pack 2, but I think Clockwork Hydra is a much better first pick, despite my affection for Green cards. I didn’t really want to go Green after that, but in pack 1 that’s the only thing that was really open. And getting good Green in pack 1 usually leads to getting Green in pack 3, which is excellent. Since I knew I wasn’t getting much Green in pack 2, I decided I’d pair it with either Black or Blue depending on which came in pack 2 (more likely Blue since it’s better in Planar Chaos), but somehow there was almost none of either color.
As for the games themselves, my opponent mulliganed a lot, and I still got massacred. In the first game he double mulliganed, but still played Essence Warden turn 1, Mire Boa turn 2, Cradle to Grave turn 3, Sporesower Thallid turn 5, and Deathspore Thallid turn 6, I was able to Death Rattle the Deathspore so it looked like I was still in the game, but he had Evolution Charm for it. Game 2 he mulliganed again, but again drew the Deathspore and Sporesower. My one removal spell didn’t show up so I got blown out again.
