This draft went pretty well, with a few insane things like three insane Red cards in my first three picks, and 15th pick Thrill of the Hunts. The deck turned out really good, although I was missing a high end, since my fatties could be suspended turn 1. I had a bunch of mana acceleration, but not all that much to do with it, so I only played sixteen lands.
In the first round I played against another solid Red/Green deck, splashing Black, featuring Stuffy Doll, Greater Gargadon, and Tromp the Domains, along with a decent Sliver package. His Stuffy Doll turned the first game into a bit of a stalemate, so we sat there hitting each other for one a turn, with Scryb Ranger and Stuffy Doll. Eventually he tapped out, and I got enough creatures on board to Tromp the Domains for just enough to kill him. It turns out he had Tromp the Domains on top, and would have killed me on his turn with his doublestriking slivers. The second game was a blowout, as I had a very good draw. We traded spells, bringing both of us to next to nothing, and then my Baloth came in, and I had Lightning Axe for his Fury Sliver, so he couldn’t handle the Baloth.
There isn’t much to say about the second round. We both had reasonable draws, but he just couldn’t compete with my superior card quality. The first game was a race, that was close until my turn 1 Baloth came in, and the second one was over when I had Sudden Shock for his Ovinomancer.
In the third round my opponent didn’t want to split, something I wasn’t too unhappy about. In the first game he double mulliganed, and got destroyed.
The second game was close, and interesting at a few points. It got a little scary when he suspended Ivory Giant turn 1, and Duskrider Peregrine turn 2. I had a solid draw that was a little short on lands so I had to use Scryb Ranger a lot to get mana for my Penumbra Spiders. He played Mangara, and I was pretty sure he had Momentary Blink, but I couldn’t find an opportunity to Lightning Axe it when he was tapped out, so I simply tried to kill it and hoped he didn’t have it… he did. It wasn’t too bad, as that meant one less of my permanents for Mangara to remove. He decided not to Blink the Mangara, but save it for his Ivory Giant, which wasn’t all that effective since I was able to use Scryb Ranger to block effectively the turns I got Blinding Lighted. In the end he got me to one with Amrou Seekers the turn before I got my 6th mana and killed him with Tromp the Domains.
