Not too many interesting picks in this draft. The first pack sent me in the right direction although I strayed for a couple picks with a couple Black Red cards since I couldn’t find any boom-booms for the Naya deck. The late Drumhunter convinced me that they were simply absent from the packs. The second pack gave me more of what may be the best common in Branching Bolt and the requisite big men. The third pack was a little disappointing but as usual I managed to finish off my deck barely.

Round 1 my opponent didn’t do much of anything. He was short on lands both games and my fast fatties didn’t give him much of a chance.

Round 2 I played against what seemed to be a one card deck. He played Goblin Mountaineer and similarly terrible creatures to go along with his Battlegrace Angel. Fortunately both times I was able to use two spells to kill the Angel and didn’t have much trouble beating his tiny dudes.

Round 3 I played against a good aggressive Green White Red deck. Game 1 he had Wild Nacatl on turn 1 and Sigiled paladins on turns 3 and 4. I made a 4/4 Caldera Hellion with my Druid of the Anima and that was game. Game 2 he had a similar draw but I didn’t have the Hellion and couldn’t keep up. Game 3 his draw was pretty fast once again but this time I was able to keep the board clear using three Bolts until I played Realm Razer on turn 5. The Razer got in for 12 before he found a Forest and Plains for his Ambusher. This left me with 8 more damage to do which wasn’t a problem. I simply played Where Ancients Tread and hit him with it.

Seems like it’s pretty hard to lose with three Branching Bolts… and no this wasn’t a 4322.

Until tomorrow…

Rich
