Probably the second best rare in the format after Martial Coup. The draft can’t start any better!
So far so good.
Grixis Charm is a little better but I don’t feel like going for a fourth color yet.
Drumhunter is tempting as well but I don’t have any fatties yet… and removal is removal.
A fantastic card in the right deck even though a Minion Reflector copying Broodmate Dragon and Bloodpyre Elemental was tempting.
Really?
Usually I’ll pick the Elf for the curve but Gift gives me more chance to draw Broodmate Dragon.
A close pick as the Thoctar is tempting but I like duals. Furthermore Shrine can produce White for Resunding Roar.
It’s close between Bull Cerodon and Bones Splinters but the Obelisk is probably coming back making the big guy better.
Probably the best two uncommons in the format. It’s close but I root for Skeletonize.
So many good cards that it’s hard to decide. I am not sure I made the right call here.
Is that… an early drop?!
I thought Unearth guys would never show up.
Not the one I thought would come back!
One more expensive guy but it’s so good with Corpse Connoisseur.
Usually when two cards in your deck are “Creature: Dragon” you have a pretty good deck!
Leotau is great but the only thing my deck lacks is cheap spells.
Now the deck is stable and Cerodon makes the cut.
It’s crap but it will probably make the cut with Bone Splinters and two Devour guys.

Round 1: Grixis (Limited Rating: 1721)
Game 1 his draws are pretty poor and I win easily. Game 2 looks similar even though his draws are a little better. He was trying to survive with two cards in hand and no creatures while I had two cards in hand with Bull Cerodon and Grixis Slavedriver on the board. Then he has a great idea: play Cruel Ultimatum. On the next turn I put him down to one and am one topdeck away from winning as his new hand gives him just as many guys as me with one pro-White guy to stop my Cerodon. Two turns after I draw a removal spell and I win.
Round 2: Naya (1839)
Turn 6 Broodmate Dragon with a good draw on game 1. Turn 7 Broodmate Dragon with a great draw on game 2.
Round 3: Naya (1728)
I don’t play a land in game 1 and I have to face turn 4 Nacatl Hunt-Pride and turn 5 Spearbreaker Behemoth which doesn’t help.
In the end I had a very good deck and was a little disappointed not to win the final but it’s better to be a little unlucky in the finals and to get four packs than to suffer earlier and get nothing!
Until tomorrow…
