  Pack 1 pick 1:

  My Pick:

A good first pick. Unfortunately the best card I am passing Blood Cultist and Savage Lands are the same color.

  Pack 1 pick 2:

  My Pick:

Covenant of Mind would be good in five color but Bone Splinters is one of the best cards I could get in combination with Kresh.

  Pack 1 pick 3:

  My Pick:

Algae Capsule (the Black one of course) and Stinger would all be great. The first one is great with Bone Splinters and so is the last. However I’d rather go with the card that is always good the removal.

  Pack 1 pick 4:

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 5:

  My Pick:

Not only an excellent card but also the clearest signal I could get that Jund is open.

  Pack 1 pick 6:

  My Pick:

Can become good if I have many Unearth creatures in particular if I get passed Grixis Slavedriver in the third pack.

  My Pick:

Not a card people usually pick highly but it is excellent in this very type of deck and fine in five-color as well.

  My Pick:

The only decent card for me here and possibly a pretty cool combo with Kresh as well.

  Pack 2 pick 2:

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 3:

  My Pick:

A wery close pick with Scourge Devil but I felt like picking an early drop as I haven’t had many since the draft started.

  Pack 2 pick 4:

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 5:

  My Pick:

I have so many playables that a fixer won’t hurt and I like it a lot better than Gift (it can’t really be called a fixer as I may not be able to cast it as Black should me my main color and as it doesn’t guarantee to solve my mana troubles).

  Pack 2 pick 6:

  My Pick:

Ridge Rannet is probably stronger for me but I have a lot of playables so it would probably not make the cut. On the other hand if I receive a few more Green cards Green could become one of my dominant colors and Druid of the Anima pretty good.

  Pack 2 pick 7:

  My Pick:

I’d like the fixer but I’m not a huge fan of playing two Obelisks in a non five-color deck. Also the skeleton is great with Bone Splinters and any possible devour guy.

  My Pick:

After two packs the deck is pretty good. It has synergy one bomb I wouldn’t always call Kresh a bomb but he is really good in this deck) and lots of removal. I should be able to get at least a pair of Yoke of the Damned which should be good in this Drake/Kresh removal deck.

  Pack 3 pick 1:

  My Pick:

Amazing with Scavanger Drake Kresh Sprouting Thrinax and the unearth guys. It will also make Yoke even better.

  Pack 3 pick 2:

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 3:

  My Pick:

Green is my third color so I don’t see myself playing Matca Rioters if I pick it. Filigree Fracture on the other hand is a better post-sideboard splash as it is both a removal spell and a cantrip.

  Pack 3 pick 4:

  My Pick:

I’m not a huge fan of Voice of the Void in three-color decks while Dark Temper is amazing here.

  Pack 3 pick 5:

  My Pick:

I’m not playing any of these so I just hate draft the most annoying one. But from now on I should just try and pick cards for my deck or I’ll end up being short in playables.

  Pack 3 pick 6:

  My Pick:

Just the same run with no card for me over and over again. One Yoke of the Damned is it too much to ask for?

  Pack 3 pick 7:

  My Pick:

That pick is wrong as I am short in playables I should have taken the Knight. Even though I can’t play his activated ability a three-mana 2/2 frist striker isn’t bad.

  Pack 3 pick 8:

  My Pick:

No Yoke in the draft… this third pack isn’t helping much.

ROUND 1: Naya (Limited rating 1674)
In the first game his start is pretty impressive with turn 1 Wild Nacatl turn two Maniacal Rage and turn 3 Plains and Court Archers. Thankfully I am able to deal with it as I have turn 3 Scarland Thrinax and turn 4 Dark Temper. On the next few turns he is not able to play real threats while my Thrinax becomes a 4/4 and is joined by Carrion Thrash. When he eventually draws 5/3 he is on four life and has neither another guy nor a card in hand.
In game 2 I empty his hand with double Rotting Rats catching Sigil of the Empty Throne. Then Scarland Thrinax eats each of my rats twice catching the cards he drew but couldn’t play and finishes him off.

ROUND 2: Five-Color (1880)
His deck is very interesting. I have said several times that a five-color deck should not play many guys. But his deck has interesting pieces of synergy.
He is playing a pair of Sedraxis Alchemist along with Puppet Conjurer Grixis Illusionist and Fusion Elemental. He also has many removal spells which is great with his Algae Gharial (also very nice combined with the 1/2).
But he is not the only one having good draws as my Kresh / Scarland Thrinax combo ends up giving me a 21/21 Kresh despite it having been bounced when he was a 5/5. Having to chump block every turn he can’t survive for long.
After a super-long first game it seems like the match is going to take ages. Unfortunately the interesting part of the match stops right there as he can’t see to draw anything but lands and mana fixers in the second.

ROUND 3: UBRG (1817)
In the first game my draws are about perfect but he has one card my deck absolutely doesn’t want to face: Algae Gharial. Fortunately my Unearth guys pump my Thrinax but not his Gharial allowing it to be just as big. He should actually be a little bigger but I forgot to pump my big lizard when he killed another creature of mine. After several trades and removal from both sides only the big guys are there both 5/5. That’s when I am very smart and topdeck my second Rats of the game to pump my guy more than his and make sure he has nothing in hand. On the next turn as he probably draws a land he can’t avoid the suicidal chump block anymore.
In the second game he chooses to draw first which is not something I like to do a lot in draft but here it seems to make sense as our decks are neither very fast nor extremely stable.
I take a mulligan and find myself with a pretty poor draw. Luckily my double Rats draw allows me to gamble. I play them chump block with one reanimate and empty both our hands. It may make me discard good spells but for the first and last time in this draft my mana didn’t come out perfectly. Luckily I drew my third color on turn5 right when I decided to empty our hands. One attack phase later and the situation is as follows:

Him: 19 life 8 lands Zombie Outlander one card in hand
Me: 16 life 5 lands

I’m not unhappy considering my poor draws to see that that I am still in the game but I clearly don’t have the odds. I then draw Rats #3. Why not? After all he hasn’t played his last draw. Banefire? Cool! Good job rat!
My next few draws are basically a joke: Kresh Sprouting Thrinax Bone Splinters Topan Ascetic Executioner’s Capsule.
There is nothing he can do about it and I win quite luckily.
The deck was good and very synergic but it shouldn’t have gone 3/0 as I’m lucky I managed to avoid any mana issues.

Until Monday…
