  Pack 1 pick 1:

  Pack 1 pick 2:

  My Pick:

A card I absolutely love. I could seem myself picking it over a good Red card like Lightning Bolt for instance.

  Pack 1 pick 3:

  My Pick:

1) Giant Spider
2) Seismic Strike
Green is open; it’s something I can definitely assume when I’m passed Kalonian Behemoth while a common is missing. If I go RG which here is the plan it’s very likely Green will be the dominant color as it has a lot more playable cards than Red. Therefore Seismic Strike shouldn’t be very efficient in my deck.

  Pack 1 pick 4:

  My Pick:

Talk about signals! I know can either go UG or Gur with lots of fixers to try and splash both Chandra and Mind Control.

  Pack 1 pick 5:

  My Pick:

1) Rampant Growth
2) Howl of the Night Pack
3) Prodigal Pyromancer
It may be greedy but I have the feeling I can play all of my picks in the same deck. Rampant Growth accelerates into the Behemoth and gives me much better chance to play Chandra and Mind Control in the same deck. I’ve trouble picturing how good Howl of the Night Pack will be in my deck. It will be good for sure definitely better than the Pyromancer but will I play an 8-5-5 manabase? If so will it still be that efficient? I try and go with the funkiest option here!

  Pack 1 pick 6:

  My Pick:

Oakenform is a better card but what on earth should I play it on?

  Pack 1 pick 7:

  My Pick:

In some decks I’ll pick the Unicorn or the Bear but the Visionary is by far the best when the only thing I aim at is digging into my bombs and into the mana to cast them.

  Pack 2 pick 1:

  My Pick:

1) Essence Scatter

2) Royal Assassin

3) Craw Wurm

4) Giant Growth

The only Green cards are both decent but there is no way I pick a pump spell (what would I pump exactly?) or another expensive spell (Craw Wurm) over a card Royal Assassin which could kill me if I ended up UG only. In which case Essence Scatter would be the closest thing to a removal I could get with Ice Cage.

  Pack 2 pick 2:

  My Pick:

1) Dragon Whelp
2) Runeclaw Bear
3) Illusionary Servant
With now two Blue cards and a single red one this pack kind of confuses me. Basically the pick is Illusionary Servant Runeclaw Bear or Dragon Whelp. I hope the Dragon being here while a common is missing means my left neighbor is not Red in which case I could actually be RG. Illusionary Servant would not be great anyway in a deck which wouldn’t have many Blue cards and getting fillers of Runeclaw Bear’s level shouldn’t be hard even though it is by far in that pack the card I’ve the highest chances to run.

  Pack 2 pick 3:

  Pack 2 pick 4:

  My Pick:

And now a Banshee/Pacifism pack very sweet.

  Pack 2 pick 5:

  My Pick:

Nothing good for my deck but at least I should have one or two very good matchups at the table after board now that I’ve two copies of Windstorm.

  Pack 2 pick 6:

  My Pick:

1) Wind Drake
2) Snapping Drake
I picked the Wind Drake because I was short on three-drops at that time. However that pick was probably wrong as I could except to get more three-drops than four-drops in the second half of the draft.

  Pack 3 pick 1:

  My Pick:

I am now officially UG. With a pair of Rampant Growth; I might be tempted to splash the Chandra if I was to receive another strong Red card (Fireball Lightning Bolt) and/or one more fixer (Rampant Growth Borderland Ranger Terramorphic Expanse).

  Pack 3 pick 2:

  My Pick:

I’m not playing Dragon Whelp; my previous pick made that clear. Then what are the best UG cards? Unsummon #2? Sage Owl? Two cards I probably won’t play. I’d rather pick Deathmark which could make my two Rampant Growth useful if I were not to play Red.

  Pack 3 pick 3:

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 4:

  My Pick:

1) Llanowar Elves
2) Entangling Vines
Wrong pick here again. I have no removal so I can’t afford to pass maybe the last one I’ll see in this draft to pick a merely “decent” card over it.

  Pack 3 pick 5:

  My Pick:

Craw Wurm is not very far behind for matters of curve as early drops are not really a thing I should be having problems drawing but I still go for the better card here.

  Pack 3 pick 6:

  My Pick:

1) Snapping Drake

2) Centaur Courser
3) Entangling Vines
Once again I pass the Green enchantment but this time there are two guys I like a lot here. As I’m short in late drops I go for the flyer here.

I don’t really want Unsummon while Sage Owl can be good with double Rampant Growth and Djinn of Wishes.

Round 1: WR

I’m having a pretty hard time in the first round as I’m facing turn 3 Pyromancer twice. The first time it just kills me but the second time I have Djinn of Wishes and even the score. In the third game he has Serra Angel but I destroy it with Windstorm and then draw Mind Control. We don’t do a thing for a while until he draws Pyromancer which I decide to steal. The card is deadly on both sides of the matchups as he must have at least 6 targets that die to his own pinger. I then draw one toughness guys one after another and they just take the game.

Round 2: Mono Black

In the first game I cast Kalonian Behemoth while he doesn’t have a skeleton or anything to race. In the second the mulligan to 4 plus Mind Rot combo doesn’t do me good. In the final game he plays Tendrils on Runeclaw Bear while he’s still on 14. Thanks! I play Djinn of Wishes for the win.

Finals: RG

In game 1 I’ve control and am winning on the nex… Overrun? Sure.

In game 2 though I control the board and have just cast Djinn of Wishes when it doesn’t seem like he can deal with it so things should go… Overrun? GG.

Until Monday…
