P1p3 I can possibly see Bloodpyre here assuming Naya is the intended deck but I might even stoop to drafting Bant and double Citadel would make that much easier. Even in Naya the fixing may be better than the Elemental so I think I would pick Citadel here every time.
P3p6 I like Excommunicate but Gift definitely pulls its weight if you have enough 6+ mana guys. Having guys that cost so much is actually intrinsic card disadvantage since you need so many lands to cast them and the utility of the sixth and seventh land is pretty low otherwise. Gift makes up for this giving you a relatively pain-free way of getting lands.
Round 1 versus Esper
G1 I started with a mulligan to 5 although the turn 2 Sorcerer gave me faint hope. He missed his third land drop for 3 turns but eventually drew out of it. Meanwhile I never drew a Green source and died with 5 Green cards in my hand.
G2 Again I mulliganed to 5… not an auspicious start. This time my opponent didn’t even have the courtesy of missing land drops and quickly dismantled me.
Until tomorrow…
