P1p1 A lot of ways to go here and I ended up settling on taking Esper Battlemage and trying to avoid being one of a line of Jund drafters.
P2p2 I probably should have taken the Oblivion Ring in retrospect but I really like splashing Gharial in Grixis. It is the perfect finisher for that sort of deck and I anticipated picking up a Bone Splinters at some point. Still Oblivion Ring is also a good splash and lets me slide back into Esper.
P2p4 I don’t like Tidehollow Strix as much as I used to as it just begs to get Branching Bolted or Beetled right out of the sky. Corpse Connoisseur on the other hand has increased in my estimation.
P3p2 At this point I wanted to minimize my Blue a little bit so I went with Thunder over Fatestitcher.

Round 1 versus Naya

I apologize for the short summaries here but this match was pretty short and ugly.

G1 He easily deals with everything I do with Branching Bolt double Sigil Blessing Oblivion Ring and finishes me with Cavern Thoctar.

G2 His curve is pretty nice with turn 3 Obelisk tutn 4 Feral Hydra turn 5 Cavern Thoctar turn 6 Branching Bolt plus Steward of Valeron turn 7 Oblivion Ring. I basically wasn’t in either game as my opponent’s good deck also drew well a pretty tough combination to handle.

Until tomorrow…
