Daily Digest: Reverse MAC

How great are transformational decks? Good enough for GerryT to endorse! See this new undefeated list that takes a page from the old Brad Nelson playbook! Keep your foes on their toes at #SCGATL!

At Pro Tour Khans of Tarkir, Brad Nelson showed up with a deck that was aggressive in game 1, but generally boarded into a control deck, rendering most of
his opponent’s removal and cheap interaction, like Hornet’s Nest, relatively useless. Dagni’s deck not only has a similar sideboard plan, but contains a
lot of spice!

For starters, there’s the whole Heliod’s Pilgrim / Chained to the Rocks / Eidolon of Countless Battles package, which looks pretty impressive. Evolving
Wilds does a nice dual land impression, but is also a Mountain for Chained to the Rocks, which is important considering there’s effectively eight of them
in the deck. Eidolon of Countless Battles is powered up by Chained to the Rocks and a mini token theme, giving you a Tarmogoyf-level creature.

The sideboard goes in a different direction though. How often have you seen Monastery Swiftspear as a sideboard card? I don’t know how effective the
sideboard plan actually is, but Brad has shown the world that drastically altering your gameplan after sideboarding is a great way to gain an edge in these
close Standard matchups.
