There have been lots of great red cards over the last year, but people couldn’t seem to make it work. With Fate Reforged, maybe we finally have enough to make it work.
Manwithplane251 has been doing some great work innovating various archetypes, and I like his take on this deck. Despite being a red devotion deck, he’s lower to the ground than the decks we saw last year. Absent are the Stormbreath Dragons that we might have expected, but Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker is hanging out in the sideboard.
The white splash for Chained to the Rocks is somewhat expected, since Mono-Red typically has issues dealing with larger creatures like Siege Rhino. Purphoros, God of the Forge is a prominent aspect of the deck. The god works quite well with Hordeling Outburst, Goblin Rabblemaster, and Mardu Scout, and is an excellent way to close games.
