Was Delver always reliant on Treasure Cruise? Or can it remain a viable deck without it? Richard “Panda” Nguyen seems to think it’s good enough to play,
and he finished 21st at the Modern Open in Baltimore.
Some Delver decks splash Tarmogoyf, but Panda went with Tasigur, the Golden Fang, which also gives him access to things like Terminate and Murderous Cut.
Big creatures were always a problem for U/R decks, but thankfully that’s no longer an issue.
Burn is probably one of the toughest matchups, and Dragon’s Claw is the best we can do. I like the matchup against most of the other decks in the format,
although Abzan is likely difficult as well. Sower of Temptation is a great top end against them, so those may be worth investigating.
