Daily Digest: Lion Riders

People continue to stretch their manabases in Standard! How far can you push an aggro deck before its manabase breaks? We haven’t it found the limits yet, as this #SCGOAK potential frontrunner shows!

Sure, anyone can ride a mantis — that’s not impressing anyone anymore. However, if you combine a little Temur with your Jeskai, maybe you’ll be able to
ride some Lions as well.

One of the main complaints of the Jeskai deck in Standard is that if your opponent kills your early creatures, you might not be able to assemble the
necessary points of burn to finish them. You really need a constant source of damage in order to capitalize on all that reach.

With this deck, you get access to some very powerful creatures, including Fleecemane Lion and Savage Knuckleblade, that you can use to put opponents into
burn range. Mantis Rider and Ashcloud Phoenix are still the best early game fliers, but green’s ground pounders have semi-evasion due to not being able to
be blocked profitably in the early game.

A more refined manabase and some additional early removal might help shore up the poor matchups against other aggressive decks, but otherwise this deck
looks like it’s full of power.
