Daily Digest: Let Me Upgrade Ya

Mono-Black Aggro, Mono-Red Aggro, Naya Aggro. These are all decks we’ve been seeing, but doesn’t it seem like there is a naturally aggro color combination missing here? GerryT investigates to see if we may see something new at #SCGINVI…

Mono-Black Aggro was poised to make a run at “most underrated Standard deck,” but then it just kind of died off. Gabe Carleton-Barnes has still been doing
pretty well with the deck considering his PTQ win, Open Series top 8, and recent WMCQ top 8, but other than him, the deck has virtually zero champions.

Perhaps it’s time for an upgrade.

Cards like Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch have always been pretty good against Mono-Black Devotion considering it doesn’t die to Bile Blight, Ultimate Price, or
Doom Blade. You might have to call the flavor judge to determine whether or not it dies to Hero’s Downfall or not though.

Stoke the Flames has given red aggro decks a new lease on life, and Ghor-Clan Rampager and Spike Jester have always been incredibly powerful cards.
Meanwhile, Llanowar Wastes and Mana Confluence make the manabase viable.

Is this a better version of Mono-Black Aggro, Mono-Red Aggro, or both? Time will tell.
