Daily Digest: Aggro Is The Pits

Mono-Black Aggro with its army of one-drops has proven a little too unreliable to breakout in Standard. That may change with a little innovation from one savvy MODO user with #SCGOAK on the horizon!

Aggro is boring, right? Play some creatures, turn ’em sideways, and hope you can sneak in enough damage before they stabilize — who wants to play that? It
might interest me if there were something to spice it up.

Well, we’ve got a couple things. For starters, Boon of Erebos is a nice little trick that allows your creatures to attack into things like Courser of
Kruphix with no fear. Even if they’re using removal spells instead of blockers, Boon of Erebos is pretty nice there as well. Crippling Blight and Mogis’s
Marauder out of the sideboard further prevent your opponent from blocking.

However, the real spice is the three maindeck copies of Empty the Pits! It’s not uncommon for your opponent to stabilize after a sweeper or weather the
early storm with some blockers and removal. In those cases, Empty the Pits is a fantastic finisher, especially in conjunction with Hall of Triumph.

Empty the Pits in Mono-Black Aggro is pretty exciting and is exactly the type of thing that would make me want to play the deck.
