Ben’s Corner – Ravnica, Legacy and More!

This week in Ben’s Corner: Wizards reveals their plans for new dual lands in Ravnica, Legacy heats up at the Gen Con World Championships and the StarCityGames.com buylist is updated to include even more sets. Read on!

Hey everyone! I’m having problems connecting to the StarCityGames.com website from my house, and so this will be a somewhat truncated edition of Ben’s Corner this week. Less to say doesn’t necessarily mean less important news, so let’s get down to business shall we?

Card of the week: Temple Garden from Ravnica!

Ravnica Preview: Temple Garden

Wow, what can I say about this land that wouldn’t be hyperbole? Amazing. Terrific. Rumors on MTGSalvation.com say that there will be four of these lands in Ravnica, and three in each of the expansions, for a total of ten of the new dual lands. These lands are simply incredible – they combine the option of both pain and tap lands, with the added bonus of counting as two basic land types for tutoring effects. Temple Garden and its ilk are certain to be chase cards in Ravnica, which just keeps getting better and better. Pre-Order Ravnica today.

Speaking of the new dual lands, I’ve gotten another large chuck of the buylist up and running. All sets up to Saviors have been added to the buylist, and we are crazy for Onslaught in particular! Check out the prices we are paying on the Onslaught “fetch” lands, in anticipation of their use with the Ravnica dual lands:

Onslaught Fetch Land Buy Prices

Bloodstained Mire: $4 for non-Foil, $10 for Foil

Flooded Strand: $6 for non-Foil, $15 for Foil

Polluted Delta: $6 for non-Foil, $20 for Foil

Windswept Heath: $3 for non-Foil, $6 for Foil

Wooded Foothills: $4 for non-Foil, $10 for Foil

These are just five of the thousands of cards on our buylist. Click here to sell us your cards today!

As a follow-up to last week’s Ben’s corner, many people wrote in and were curious about the Legacy format. I took the time this week to write a primer about the Legacy format. If you have any questions about the history of Legacy, which cards are legal, or when there will be major Legacy tournaments near you, go ahead and click on that link. If you have other questions, feel free to post them in the forum of that article, and I will do my best to answer them! I’m also happy to report that the Gen Con Legacy World Champion tournament held yesterday had 151 participants! This was far beyond anyone’s expectations (remember, the tournament was on a Thursday, was added last minute, and was not heavily publicized), and bodes very, very well for the long term support and health of the format.

That’s it for this week, but join me next week as I go a little more in depth about cards which are starting to heat up in constructed. Until then, here’s a list of the higher end cards which were added to the system over the past week. Enjoy, and see you all next week!
