Sure, there’s Nykthos, Shrine to Nix and Primeval Titan, but sometimes green mages want to be more midrange than that. I’m sure Todd Anderson and Brian
Braun-Duin will appreciate this one. Dungrove Elder has made a reappearance!
Most people, myself included, forget that there’s another card out there that wants you to play a bunch of basic Forests, and that’s former Standard
all-star Beacon of Creation. Together with Dungrove Elder, you have a one-two punch that requires vastly different cards from your opponent if they want to
deal with both.
Mono-Green doesn’t seem like it would fare too well against the Modern combo decks, but this one is surprisingly disruptive. Mwonvuli Acid-Moss, Acidic
Slime, and Primal Command can harass Tron decks while Vines of Vastwood can counter Splinter Twin.
This deck is a little different than the normal Modern fare, but it looks pretty sweet.
